MCNAMARA, JR., JOHN B. John B. McNamara Jr., age 89, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at his home after a brief illness. Services will be held at 11:30am Wednesday March 31, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Mike Attas officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. John was born in Waco November 24, 1914 to John Bolivar and Alice Goodrich McNamara. He graduated from Waco public schools, Baylor University and Baylor University School of Law. He married Nancy Wallis September 16, 1939. He served in the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1941 to 1946. He practiced law in Waco from 1946 until his death, first with his father and then with his son. He was a fourth generation lawyer. His great grandfather, N. W. Battle was the first lawyer in McLennan County. He was a member and past president of Kiwanis Club, past president of Ridgewood Country Club, past president of United Way, head of the Red Cross Disaster Relief during the 1953 Waco tornado, charter member of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife Nancy, and their two children, John B. McNamara III of Waco, and Nancy M. Groover of Longview, and their grandson John Carter Hicks of Waco, his sister Alice Harwell of Waco, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bill McKinney, Joe Riley, Richard Sellers, Parnell McNamara, Mike McNamara, and Heyward Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Ward, Roane Lacy, Sr., Henry Dietz, Pete Simmon, Harry Trippet, Roane Lacy, Jr., Jim McDermitt, and Walter Lacy, III.
