John Carl Kolinek, Jr. September 22, 1944 - April 27, 2014 John Carl Kolinek, Jr., 69, of Waco, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. John Collier officiating. A private family burial will follow. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. He was born September 22, 1944, in Waco, to Callie and John Jake C. Kolinek, Sr. John attended Waco schools. In July 1964, John began a 30 year career with the Waco Tribune-Herald. On August 28, 1964, he married Carol Boedeker. He always had a love for anything outdoors, family, friends and all things encompassing grandchildren! The favorite family time was the annual trip to Hunt, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. John leaves a legacy of unconditional love, generosity, dependability and loyalty. His children and grandchildren describe him as a safe refuge. He is survived by his wife, Carol; was a proud dad of John Trey Kolinek III and wife, Jill, Jennifer Mashek and husband, Marc and Melissa Hoekstra and husband, Jonathan. He was Papa John to Kelsey, Kendall and Caroline Kolinek and William and Harrison Hoekstra. He is also survived by his sister, Carlene Dugger and husband, Connally; brother, Randy Kolinek and wife, Norma; nieces and a nephew. Pallbearers are Brad Strain, Chris Jaska, Ross McNew, Jeff McNew, Greg McNew, David Seesing, Jonathan Hoekstra and Marc Mashek.
