John Don Whiteside October 4, 1937 - April 8, 2009 John Don Whiteside of Waco passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at his residence with his loving wife, Marie, by his side. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 13, at Waco Memorial Park with his brother, Ray Whiteside of Abilene, officiating. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Sunday, April 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. John was born October 4, 1937, in Childress, Texas, to W.C. and Eula Austin Whiteside. He graduated from Childress High School in 1955 and joined the US Navy in 1956. John received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy in 1967. He graduated with an Associates Degree from Del Mar College in 1969, and later graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1972. John and his wife, Marie, bought City Drug in McGregor, TX, in 1979, where they owned and operated the drug store for over 20 years. John was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, W.C. Whiteside and Theatus M. Whiteside; and his sister, K. Marie Whiteside. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marie Whiteside, of Waco; two sons, David Whiteside and wife, Margaret; Marke Whiteside and wife, Mary Lou; and daughter, Debora Carr and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Tyler, Christopher, Matthew, Johnny, Stephanie, Bobby, Cager and Dillion; great grandchildren, Austin, John, Joseph, Brittany, and Katie; brother, Ray Whiteside and wife, Betty; sisters, Eunice Funderburk, and Ruby Sims and husband, Jack.
