Dr. JOHN ED WILLIAMS Dr. John Ed Williams, age 78 of Waco and Valley Mills died Monday, February 23, 2004 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 3:30pm Friday, February 27 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Kay Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Thursday, February 26 at the funeral home. Dr. Williams was born in Mexia to Leonard and Ruby Williams. He attended LaVega and Waco High and was captain of the football team at LaVega. He served in WWII, U.S. Navy in 1942-46. He married his wife Connie Yvonne Ferguson, daughter of Ruben and Pauline Ferguson June 20, 1946. He graduated 1948 from Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio. He was a practicing chiropractor for 43 years in Waco and 15 years in Valley Mills. He and his wife were member s of Herring Ave Methodist Church then First Methodist Church of Valley Mills. He was a member of Herring Lodge #1224 for 50 years. He was a 33rd degree mason and a member of Scottish Rite and a shriner. He was a member of Knights Templar of Waco #10 and Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas #45. Doc, as he was known to his friends enjoyed quail hunting with his field trial dogs and fishing with friends and family, as well as raising and showing quarter horses. His priorities were serving God, his family, his friends and his patients. Survivors include wife, Connie Yvonne Williams of Valley Mills; daughters, Kathy Lynn Sartor and husband, John of Waco and Melinda Jane Sutherland of Valley Mills; sons, Gregory Keith Williams of San Francisco, Bradley Kirk Williams of Pearland, Texas and Scott Edward Williams and wife, Hope of Tomball, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jane Dalrymple of Austin; brothers, Bill George Williams and wife, Shirley of Waco and David Williams and wife, Glenda of DeKalb, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gregory Williams, Brad Williams, Scott Williams, Bill Ed Bruner, Bradley Williams, Mark Smith, and John Sartor.
