John Edward Trent

John E. Trent, 73, of Waco passed away April 17, 2017, at his home with his loving wife by his side. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 21, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father John Guzaldo officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, with visitation to follow at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. John was born February 28, 1944, in Waco, to Tom and Clara Ordner Trent. He attended St. Mary’s and graduated from Reicher Catholic High School. He served in the US Navy from 1963 – 1968. He married Betty Hamilton on March 20, 1970. He worked as an industrial mechanic for 35 years. John was a very loving husband, dad and granddaddy. He was the family handy man and could fix anything. After retiring, John enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. He was very good at wood work, creating toys and games and tinkering on just about anything. John also enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of his dogs. He was a devout Catholic and a lifetime parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church. John was proceeded in death by brother, Bill Trent; son, Dennis Trent; and grandson, Dalton Robins. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Hamilton Trent; sister, Tommie Stuth and husband, Hank; son, DeDon Trent and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Melissa (Missy) Porter, daughter, Karyn Robins and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Tadd Robins, Brandon Trent, Ashleigh Trent, Bo Porter and Bailey Robins; great-grandchildren, Levi and Cooper Robins and Gracie Trent; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Pallbearers will be Tadd Robins, Jason Robins, Bo Porter, Brandon Porter, Brandon Trent and DeDon Trent. Honorary pallbearers will be Levi and Cooper Robins. The family would like to thank the staff at Providence Hospital and the caring people of Providence Hospice, especially Jan and Tiffany.
