PATTERSON, JOHN FRANKLIN John Franklin Patterson, age 78, of Waco formerly of San Antonio died Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 2pm Sunday, August 10 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. John Patterson was born near Lockhart, Texas on February 2, 1925 to John B. and Rhoda Smith Patterson. He entered the service in 1944 at 18 and became a tail gunner on a B-17. He was shot down over Germany and remained a POW until liberated by the British after a 700-mile forced march across Germany. In 1947, he married Natalie Norton and was the father of two daughters. John retired from S W Bell after 37 years of service. In 1993, he and Natalie moved to Waco to be closer to their children. Mr. Patterson loved his family, his dogs, and his country. He was a character and a darn good tipper. Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Louise Williams, her husband Roger, and his beloved border collie, Sissy. He is survived by his wife, Natalie, his daughters, Sherry Hagmann and her husband Barry of Lubbock, Vicky Cohen and her husband Larry of Waco, his sister Beatrice Raynor of Tulia, his nephew, Douglas Williams of San Antonio, and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fuzzy Friends of Waco or Providence Hospice.
