John H. Parks

July 11, 1919 — September 30, 2004

PARKS, JOHN H. John H. Parks, 85 of Woodway, died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 1:30pm Monday, October 4 at St. Catherine Center Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Ebner officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Sunday, October 3 at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room with visitation with the family from 5-8pm. In 1943, after graduating from high school in Erie, Penn., Mr. Parks joined the U.S. Army and served in the medical corp. He moved to Waco in 1979 and was the plant manager at Marathon Battery, retiring in his early sixties. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, who was very involved with his family. Mr. Parks served on the Planning and Zoning Board of the City of Woodway, and was a member of Lake Waco Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, bowling and loved fast cars. He was a friend to all who knew him. Survivors include wife, Anne M. Parks of Woodway; daughters, Jacqueline Anne Parks Yankus of Snow Hill, Maryland and Carol Anne Parks and husband, Jonathan W. Bearup of Monrovia, Maryland; and grandchildren, Donovan R. McMullin, Cassey N. Bearup, Jonathan S. Bearup and wife Mary, Justan B. McMullin, Jason Parks Yankus and wife Emilie Shannon, and Jessica Anne Yankus. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine Center.
