John R. Wooten May 17, 1919 - December 22, 2009 John R. Wooten, age 90, of Waco passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Jerry Arthur and Rev. Dick Wooten, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Hillsboro, TX. Visitation will be from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, December 27, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. John was born May 17, 1919 in Hillsboro, Texas. He lived his entire life in the central Texas area. He married the former Mildred Boulware, May 20th, 1939. He entered the life insurance business in 1966 as an agent. His entire insurance career was with Texas Life Insurance Co. When he retired, he was an officer in the company. John served as president of the Waco-Temple, General Agents and Managers Association. He also was president of the Southwest Area Life Training Council serving Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waco. He was a member of the City Council in Hillsboro and active in service clubs and chambers of commerce in the communities in which he lived. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred Wooten; one brother, Dick Wooten, Sr., and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
