John Rogers Cochran June 3, 1915 - October 14, 2009 John Rogers Cochran of Axtell was called Home Wednesday, October 14, 2009, with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, at Axtell Cemetery with Chaplain Brian Pendleton officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday morning, prior to the service. Rogers was born June 3, 1915, in China Spring, TX, to Albert and Toye Cochran. He graduated from Axtell High School in 1933. He then served the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, serving in the combat zone in Italy and Africa during WWII. He received seven Bronze Stars. He retired after 18 years from the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Edith P. Cochran and Mildred Cochran; and his sisters, Sidney Lois Cochran Roaming and Mildred Katherine Cochran Young. He is survived by his son, Charles Cochran and wife, Wilma, of Axtell, TX; three step-granddaughters; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; and several nieces.
