VASQUEZ, SR., JOHN John Vasquez, Sr., age 80, of Robinson went to be with our Lord Thursday, August 14, 2003 at a local nursing home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, August 16 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Rev. Sergio Lopez officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7pm Friday, August 15 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 1124 Washington Ave., with visitation to follow. Mr. Vasquez was born in Mexico January 4, 1923 and came to the United States as a child. He attended school in McLennan County. He married Julia Morales November 28, 1946 in Waco. He was a farmer, worked as a mechanic for Marstaller Motors for 20 years and for Robinson Independent School District, where he was made an honorary member of the boosters club. He later retired from Robinson ISD. He was a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church, where he ushered. He was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicky Vasquez Gomez. Survivors include wife, Julia Vasquez; daughters, Lupe Perez and Mary Asebedo; sons, John Vasquez, Jr. and Ben Vasquez all of Robinson; grandchildren, Jason, Christina, Manuel, and Mickey Vasquez, Tony, Teresa, Jose Adan Asebedo; Cindy and Crystal Gomez, Lindy Hinojos, Dianna Villarreal, Lisa Davies, and Wally Gonzalez; sister, Mary Davila of Waco; brother, Frutoso Vasquez of Waco and 16 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mike Villarreal, III, Albert Morales, Jr., Stephen Davies, Johnny Gomez, Marcos Hinojos, and Joe Davila, III. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
