John W. Cowan December 9, 1927 - June 4, 2013 John William Cowan of Waco went to be with his Lord Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Pastor Amos Humphries officiating. Burial will follow at Moody Cemetery. John was born December 9, 1927 in Gatesville, Texas to Richard and Lois Mayberry Cowan. He graduated from Waco High School Class of 1946 and worked as a truck tire builder at General Tire for 40 years. His church activities were extremely important to him. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. He volunteered for many years at Mission Waco; Jeffrey Place Nursing Home; served as chaplain for Bellmead Masonic Lodge and for 30 years was a trustee on the board of Genco Federal Credit Union. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Treyonne Cowan; his daughters, Cindy Cowan Queen and Kathy Cowan; and grandson, Geoff Queen and wife, Jennifer of Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Lake Drive Baptist Church, Mission Waco or the charity of your choice.
