She worked and retired from Civil Service in 1980, served in the WAC's during WWII, and in S.W.A.P. Johnnie was a peaceful, dignified person who enjoyed quiet pursuits, such as reading, cross stitch, gardening and the Times crossword puzzle. She lived her life as she pleased and expected everyone to do the same. Johnnie’s generosity helped many organizations take care of those less fortunate, especially children. She donated time at a local library and was once active in the Hewitt Chamber of Commerce. We will miss her wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by nieces, Joyce A. Zuber and husband, Darrell of North Carolina, Penny Platt of Dallas and Peggy D. Upchurch of Denton; nephews, Patrick O'Connor and Jimmy O'Connor of California. She is also survived by one great niece, Terri Zuber and one great nephew, Carl Wayne Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband Orval Lee Dennis, her parents, sisters, Ruby C. Crump and Ruth C. O'Connor and brother Samuel Maxwell DeHay. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that you make donations to Caritas of Waco. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com. Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey
