Jorge Victorino

March 27th, 2024, at eight in the morning, our father, Jorge Victorino, artist, carpenter, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son took his last breath in our home with my mother’s hand to his face and her face so close to his as she whispered to him goodbye. He appeared completely at peace, and I think he got absolutely everything he dreamed of in this life.

A mass in his honor will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 5th 2024, at St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church at 315 Jefferson Ave, Waco, TX.

My father used to paint paintings that resembled something you loved in life. He’d be brought pictures, and someone would say paint this please, and the following week he would be holding it up presenting it to them, a smile so large on his face. He’d hand it over with a pride that illuminated him so bright everything glowed. Sometimes he’d warn you the paint was still wet but should dry in no time as he sat at a table with hands speckled with every color of paint that was on the canvas that was held. He also built things, and in a week he would have the exact furniture you asked for, his hands layered in dust, and he fixed just about everything. Our father painted the most beautiful life for us. He would sit outside with a smile so big as he would look at his life he loved and I remember coming up to him and my mom on his last birthday when he was well, and I said “you did it Dad, you did all of this” and he smiled and said, “we did. We did it", his hands holding every piece of each of us.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

Jorge is survived by his wife; his five children and their spouses; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his three siblings; and nieces and nephews.
