Jose Jacinto, Jr.

November 12, 1922 — November 6, 2023

Dr. Jose S. Jacinto, Jr., age 100, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023, at home surrounded by family and friends.


Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, In Waco, Texas.


Jose was born in the Philippines and grew up in Manila. He taught Philosophy at Silliman University where he met his wife, Julia Datuin, and at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. He was a talented musician and played the violin and the Cello in the university orchestra, and he sang in the choir at Silliman University church, where he was an active member. He enjoyed camping, tinkering with electronics, woodwork and reading. In 1965, he immigrated to the United States with his wife, and two young daughters where he studied divinity and earned his PhD in Philosophy and Religion at The Claremont University and a Doctorate degree of Divinity at Vanderbilt University.


Jose was preceded in death by his mother, Francesca Crisostomo; his father, Jose F. Jacinto; his brother, Ernest Jacinto; sister, Linda Uy; and his daughter Marietta, Ruth Jacinto.


He is survived by his wife, Julia; daughter, Raquel, and son-in-law, Kelvin Branom; and his grandsons, Camron Branom, and Cody Branom.


The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church,
