Joseph Brooks Williams

April 8, 1952 — October 24, 2022

Brooks Williams, 70, of Waco, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at his home in Waco.

The memorial service will be Friday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Waco with The Rev. Aaron Zimmerman officiating. A private burial will precede the service at Lorena Cemetery. The family invites Brooks' friends to join in celebrating his life at the Parish Hall at St. Alban's immediately following the service.

Brooks was born in Waco on April 8, 1952 to Peeler and Margie Williams. He attended Waco schools, graduating from Richfield High School in 1970. He always treasured his classmates and remained close friends with many of them. He then became a proud Baylor Bear graduate and also received his law degree from Baylor School of Law. He practiced as an attorney in Marshall, where he was an assistant district attorney, and then in Midland, before returning home to Waco. Brooks' love of family and friends was the hallmark of his life, and we will all miss his sense of humor, loyalty, and overwhelming generosity. Brooks was truly one of a kind.

Brooks was preceded in death by his adored grandparents, Gibson Ross Williams (Grandear) and Lottie (Nonnie) and N. T. Wallace; his dear parents, Peeler and Margie Williams; older brother, Peeler Williams III; his beloved aunt; and several cousins.

Survivors include his sister, Carol Turner and husband, Dave of Fort Worth; brother, Shapley Ross Williams and wife, Leann of Waco and their children, Kate Nunley, Caroline Williams, and Summer Collins; niece, Amanda Prater of Waco and her two daughters; cousins, Elizabeth Estes Taylor, Ross Taylor; and Beth Musgrave and husband, Pat and their children, of Lorena; and many, many dear friends.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Peeler Williams, Jr. Scholarship Fund at Baylor School of Law, the Building Fund at St. Alban's Episcopal Church or a charity of choice.
