VANYA, JOSEPH J. Joseph J. Vanya, age 81 of Waco died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. Services will be 11:30 AM Friday, April 6 at Richfield Christian Church with Rev. David Story officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Vanya was born in Batson, TX on December 29, 1919. He was a graduate of Batson High School. He later received a BBA from Sam Houston State Teachers College and his MBA from University of Texas in Austin. He served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1970. After his retirement he taught school at Richfield, Jefferson-Moore, and Midway, he retired from teaching in 1985. He married Joyce Davis May 26, 1946. He was a member of Richfield Christian Church, Past Master Mason, and Past President of Waco Senior’s Kiwanis Club. Survivors include: His wife: Joyce Vanya of Waco Daughters: Jill Horner and her husband, Mike of Belton Joby Bird and her husband, Andy of Maryland Grandsons: Davis Horner and Aaron Bird A sister: Adeline Krueger of Batson In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home or charity of choice.
