Josephine D. Tusa

TUSA, JOSEPHINE Josephine Denena Tusa, 87 of Waco, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004 at a local nursing home. Respecting her request, visitation will be from 10am -12 noon Saturday, November 27 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room with graveside service and burial to follow at 1pm at Waco Memorial North with the Rev. David Leibham officiating. Mrs. Tusa was born in Brazos County, Texas May 28, 1917, near Mumford. One of five children, she was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Denena, Sr. She was married to Vince Charles Tusa, Sr., October 8, 1939, in Bryan, Texas. The family moved to Waco after a few years where they raised four children. Mrs. Tusa was primarily a housewife, but worked at times at various department stores in Waco. She was a skillful seamstress, using her talents to supplement the family income as well as making clothes for her children, grandchildren, and daughters-in-law. Until recent years, when her health declined, she and her husband enjoyed travel, card playing with friends, and keeping a spotless house. Mrs. Tusa was preceded in death by her youngest son, Karl Wayne Tusa on February 8, 2004 and then her husband, Vince, August 15, 2004. She is survived by three of their children, Dr. Vince C. Tusa and wife, Betty of Paris, Tennessee, Louise Crites and husband, W. W. of Dallas, and Leonard Tusa and wife, Sherry of Waco; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and her youngest sister, Annie Ferrara of Hearne, Texas.
