Joy Mae Seirer April 29, 1920 - September 29, 2008 Joy Mae Seirer of Waco went to be with her Lord, Monday, September 29, 2008 at Wesley Woods Alzheimer's Care Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Chaplain Suzanne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.Thursday, October 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Joy was born April 29, 1920 in Pine Prairie, Louisiana to Louis and Elena Campbell. She and Max Seirer met and married in Waco. They traveled extensively during Max's military career with the US Air Force. She was active with charity work during those years with Grey Ladies and Family Services and received letter of commendations from base commanders. She was the Past Queen of Merak Temple #104 Daughters of the Nile; Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Walter Baldwin Chapter #929 in Waco and McGregor Chapter #427. She was also past president of Beauceant #199 of Waco. Throughout this time she was involved in retail shoe sales, an avid seamstress and gardener. Joy was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and one sister; one great-grandchild and two sons-in-law. Joy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Max; son, Willie Linden Seirer and wife, Elaine of Reno, NV; daughters, Betty Bickett and husband, Bob of Woodway; and Alice Connelly and husband, Michael of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Providence Hospice and Wesley Woods Alzheimer's Care Center for their loving care.
