JOYCE BORTZ Joyce M. Bortz, age 64 of Waco, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at her residence. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 27 at Seventh & James Baptist Church with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Bortz was born November 20, 1938 in Taylor, TX to Charles and Martha Roehr Bachmayer. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Taylor and attended Durham Business College in Austin. She married C.H. Jay Bortz on July 12, 1985. She had been a bookkeeper and office manager for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Monica Sefcik Kunkel and husband Russell of Coppell and Lorie Sefcik Crowder and husband Richard of Hewitt; son, David W. Sefcik and wife Wendy of Taylor; grandchildren, Emily and Katie Kunkel, Elizabeth and Lincoln Crowder, and Jillian and Taylor Sefcik; brothers, Erwin Bachmayer and wife Elsie, and Ralph Bachmayer and wife Mary Lou, all of Beyersville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Carrol Bachmayer, Harlan Bachmayer, Todd Bachmayer, Charles Johnson, Donald Easter and Neal Gates. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Community Hospice.
