She was a lifelong resident of Nederland, Texas. Joyce lived the last 8 months of her life in Henderson, Texas with nephew, Craig Mostyn with whom she and C.R. had a special bond. Joyce graduated high school a year early and took college classes while going to work at Pure Oil Company. She took pride in the fact that she was never late or missed days of work. She worked as a secretary at Pure Oil for over 38 years before retiring to enjoy retirement with her beloved husband C.R. Joyce talked often of their travels together and especially loved their trips to Alaska. Joyce loved to dance, C.R. did not but would faithfully take her to dance. Joyce loved to do the Macarena Dance to which she would tell C.R. got a big kick out of. He delighted in making her happy. They enjoyed traveling together and going to the Pompano Club in Port Neches where they were members and spent every New Year at the Freedonia in Nacogdoches, Texas. They loved their time together. She often referred to C.R. as her best friend and soulmate. Joyce passed away, to the day, 3 years after C.R. and towards the end of her life spoke often of being reunited with him again. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, C. R. Mostyn, her sister Gloria Saxon, and parents, Lloyd and Lois Hanchett.
