Joyce Marie Kostohryz

Joyce Marie Kostohryz passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 15, 2017, in Woodway, Texas. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, at Saint Jerome’s Catholic Church. A family burial service will be held at Fatima Cemetery in Abbott, Texas, at 1:30 p.m. A visitation will be 5:00-6:00 p.m., and Rosary service will be 6:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Joyce was born November 2, 1949, in Waco, Texas, to Louis Jim Janda and Clara Janda of Menlow, Texas. Joyce attended Abbott High School and there met the love of her life, Ted Kostohryz. Joyce and Ted married on February 15, 1969, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Joyce was a supportive and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was most proud of her family and the time spent sharing stories in the home that she created with Ted. Joyce was an active member of Saint Jerome’s Catholic Church in Waco. Joyce served as the past President of the Women’s Society and as a member of the Ladies of Charity, and Saint Jerome’s Bereavement Care team. Joyce also served her community as a volunteer at CARITAS and as President of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Group. Joyce shared her love for the Lord by living a life of service to others. Her presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Clara Janda; her brother, Louis Janda, Jr.; her sister, Joanna Krueger; and in-laws, Hynek Kostohryz, Irene Dolezal Plsek, and Robert Plsek. Joyce is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ted Kostohryz; sons, Eric Kostohryz and wife, LeAnn, of Keller, Texas, and Sean Kostohryz and wife, Dawn, of Waco; grandsons, Jake and Luke Kostohryz; sister, Margaret Kramolis of West, Texas; sisters-in-law, Jeannette Chadwick of Denver, Colorado, and Debbie Robertson and husband, Harold, of Abbott; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary Pallbearers for the service are grandsons, Jake Kostohryz and Luke Kostohryz; nephews, Donnie Kramolis, Gary Kramolis and Kyle Kruger; niece, Kelly Givens; and grandnephew, Jason Harrell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Jerome’s Catholic Church, 9820 Chapel Road, Waco TX 76712.
