Juanita Gibson September 2, 1913 - February 14, 2012 Juanita "Mrs. J.Travis" Gibson of Waco completed her lifetime of ministry on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at the age of 98. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 16, at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Camp, Rev. Mark Wible, and Gary Rhodes officiating. Juanita was born September 2, 1913, in Lockney, Texas, to Grady and Elizabeth Rigdon, moved to Amarillo in grade school and graduated from Amarillo High. Attending Buchanan Street Baptist Church and serving as church secretary, she met a Junior Department Sunday School teacher named Travis Gibson. They married in January, 1934, attended Howard Payne College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary together, preparing for their ministries. She was the ultimate helpmate/preacher's wife in the ministries in Goodnight, Ft. Worth, New London and Brownwood and then later as Administrator of the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment at Lake Brownwood. Upon retirement they moved to Waco and continued serving at Highland Baptist Church for more than 20 years. Her life was fulfilled as servant of the Lord, pastor's wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Travis Gibson; her parents; and brothers, Orville and Clyde. Family members treasuring wonderful memories are sons, Joe and David Gibson; grandchildren, Tonikay Osgood and husband, John, and their children, Abby and Ben, of Austin; Joe Gibson III and wife, Christy, of Tyler; Scott Gibson and wife, Marie, of Dallas; Davey Gibson and wife, Jordan, and their son, William, of Richmond, TX; and John Gibson and wife, Amanda, of San Antonio.
