Judith Englander Block

JUDITH ENGLANDER BLOCK Judith Englander Block passed away February 12, 2003. Graveside services were held February 13 at Hebrew Rest Cemetery. She was born on September 25, 1904 in Houston, Texas, the eldest of five children, to Julius and Fannie Englander. Her two brothers, Lester Englander, Jem Englander, and two sisters, Ruth Jacobs and Hannah Meyers preceded her in death. Judith graduated from Waco High School in 1922. She moved to New York City in 1924, and returned to Waco in 1944, where she met and married Dr. Stanley R. Block. He passed away in 1960. The Block family was the “B” of the B & E Little League baseball team. She was president of Texas Optometric Women’s Auxiliary and Temple Rodef Sholom Sisterhood. Judith is survived by seven nieces and nephews and their spouses, Leonard and Elysse Englander, Louis and Sara Jo Englander, Robert and Sue Jacobs, Edward Jacobs, Dr. Jerry and Judy Jacobs, Dr. Bill and Lynn Meyers and Mary Birnbaum. She is also survived by her longtime housekeeper of 50 years, Rena Barnes, and her loving and wonderful caretakers of the past eight years.
