Judith “Judy” Hodge Sterling passed away on March 26, 2016, in Grand Prairie, Texas, at the age of 90. She slipped away on a beautiful spring morning to join her husband, Mac Sterling, whom she has been missing for 16 years. Her graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., prior to the graveside, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Judy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 10, 1925, to James D and Una Hodge. She grew up in Tulsa and then later Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She attended Baylor University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. Judy met the love of her life, Mac, at a church hayride in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where Judy’s parents had relocated and where Mac was stationed during WWII. They were married on June 30, 1945, and celebrated 55 years and three children together. Judy was an avid birdwatcher, nature lover, and gardener. Her backyard was a certified Wildlife Habitat through the Natural Wildlife Foundation. She also enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, James D and Una Hodge; her husband, Dr. Mac Sterling; and her daughter, Sandra Sterling Reynolds. She is survived by her son, Mike Sterling and wife, Lynn, of Knoxville, Tennessee; her daughter, Jill Kessler and husband, Mike, of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her family is very thankful for the wonderful care Judy received at the Keith Heights residential care home in Grand Prairie.
