Julein was born November 6, 1921, in Ben Arnold, Texas, to Alois and Tillie Schiller, and was raised in Rosebud, TX, along with her husband, Leon Hensel, who passed away with cancer in 2000 after 55 years of marriage. They settled in Waco where they enjoyed raising their family. Julein dedicated her life to loving God and serving her husband, the love of her life, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends, as well as serving her community. As a long time member of St. Louis Catholic Church, she served in many volunteer capacities in helping others. She was also co-chairman of St. Martha's Circle for many years. Her family and friends remember mostly her gentleness and kindness for others, her love of God, her charm and always wanting to help others, even when she couldn't due to her health. She enjoyed her family and many friends traveling, playing dominoes and loved to go dancing with her husband. As long as she could walk she never forgot those dancing steps! She was a gourmet cook, incredible seamstress, 4-H leader for her daughter for years. She had a green thumb with her beautiful plants and loved the outdoors. She was a special lady who touched the lives of many people. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sister, Viola and her husband, Joe Holcek. She is survived by her son, Alan and his wife, Mary Ann, of Waco; her daughter, Jeannie and husband, Rick Rogers, of Austin; grandchildren, Lori and husband, Tommy Young; Brad and wife, Monica Hensel; Crystal and husband, Mark Dalland; Karson Rogers, Cooper and wife, Mandy Rogers; great grandchildren, Alex and Jacob Hensel, Josh and Justin Young, Mitchell and Bailey Dalland, and Layla Rogers; a sister, Ora Mae and her husband, Leroy Simek, of Waco; a brother, Jerome Schiller and his wife, LaVerne, of Spring, TX; and numerous other relatives. The family would like to express our gratitude to our caregivers, doctors, hospice and friends, for all the loving care they have given to Julein. Our wonderful caregivers made Julein more comfortable in her own home the later years of her life. Pallbearers will be her 5 grandsons and nephew: Brad Hensel, Tommy Young, Karson Rogers, Cooper Rogers, Mark Dalland, and Ken Hensel. Honorary pallbearers are her caregivers: Doretha Harvey, Linda Trueheart, Ruth Jackson and Linda Decker. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations given to one of these groups: The Alzheimer Association, the American Cancer Society or to a hospice service of your choice.
