Julia Alma Whitley July 18, 1920 - October 2, 2011 Julia Alma Whitley of Axtell passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011. Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Reverend John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Julia was born July 18, 1920 in Dixons Mill, Alabama, to Otto and Olga Regen. She graduated from Texarkana High School in 1938 and attended business school in Galveston. She married Robert Quellis Whitley on February 28, 1943 in Waco. She worked at Blackland Army Air Field until her children were born. After that, Julia helped Robert with his business, K & W Utilities, and continued operating the business after his death on August 19, 1973. Julia was very active in her children's school activities and served as room mother and PTA leader for many years. She enjoyed attending her children's school and sporting activities even after they were grown. She also attended many Baylor sporting events. She was a member of Sparks United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers, Sam, Decie, Narland, infant sister, Hazel Merle, and an infant brother. She is survived by, her daughter, Kay Whitley of Axtell, her son, Robert Whitley of Axtell and fiancee, Karen Schroeder of Bellmead, her sister Margaret Green of Jacksonville, Florida, her step daughter, Jean Johnson and husband, Boady of Holland, Texas, five step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, two nieces, and four nephews. Pallbearers are: Johnny Banik, Willie Bowers, Eddie Curtis, Rodney Outlaw, Jimmy Regen and John Schroeder. The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Schiller for the many years of care and attention that he gave her, the staff of Bluebonnet Health Care and Senior Care of Hewitt for the professional care and comfort they provided her. Memorials may be made to the Animal Birth Control Clinic, 3238 Clay, Waco, 76711 or the American Heart Association.
