Julia Bradshaw Brazelton, 93, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Waco, Texas, died peacefully Sunday, October 15, 2017. Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Celebration of Julia’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Waco. Born to the late Dr. Thomas Gavin Bradshaw and Julia Southall Reynolds Bradshaw in Windsor, Virginia, on February 13, 1924, Julia spent most of her childhood in Rock Ridge, North Carolina, graduating from Rock Ridge School. After attaining her Bachelor of Science in 1945 from Woman's College (now University of North Carolina-Greensboro), she began her teaching career in Rock Ridge. She enjoyed teaching home economics and being a director of the glee club. After her son was born, she devoted her life to being a full-time homemaker, wife and mother. The church played an important role in Julia’s life. Although she and her husband moved frequently, she always found a home church. First Presbyterian Church in Waco was a treasured place for her to worship and find fellowship. She and her husband were active members, participating in Sunday school and volunteering time and talents whenever possible. At home she was an accomplished cook, seamstress, and gardener. She also enjoyed being involved in the Literary and Bridge clubs. Julia was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Samuel Clinton Brazelton, Sr.; and son, Samuel Clinton Brazelton, Jr. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Lillie Bradshaw Little and Mary Reynolds Bradshaw Peacock; and brothers, Thomas Gavin Bradshaw, Jr., and William "Bill" Southall Bradshaw. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jeanie Straus Brazelton, and granddaughters, Blair Brazelton Boghetich and husband, Travis, and Paige Reynolds Brazelton, of Dallas. Julia was the proud great-grandmother of Samuel and James Boghetich, as well as a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
