Julia Mae Bowden

Julia Mae Bowden passed away Friday, January 20, 2023. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, at Western Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Kip Osborne officiating. A burial will follow for family only at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.


Julia was born November 19, 1937, in Temple, to Clifford and Estelle E. Young. Julia was educated at Waco High. She worked at Western Heights Baptist Church in the nursery. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and her twice a week exercise class at church.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Day Bowden; sisters, Mary Alice Oswald, JoAnn Law, Vera Nell Linn, and Dorothy Pearl Young; brother, James Allen Young; son-in-law, Robert Brandon Mitchell; and grandson-in-law, Brandon Scott Gatlin.


She is survived by her sons, Clint Douglas Bowden and Daryl Bowden; daughter, Jill R. Mitchell; granddaughters, BreAnna Renee Gatlin, I’Liea Marie Bowden, Dalilah Jean Mitchell, and Novalynn Mae Russell; grandsons, Lewis Russell, Nehemiah Luke Russell, Donovan Douglas Mitchell, and Brandon Scott Gatlin, Jr.; adopted children, Hayley Lehoski, and Eric Kerneen; and step grandchildren, Dawson and Harley Durbin.


Memorials may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church.
