Julia S. Lopez March 25, 1936 - May 5, 2014 Julia S. Lopez of Beverly Hills passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at Providence Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence Soler as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., with Rosary service at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Julia was born March 25, 1936, in Buckholts, Texas, to Ramon and Indalesia Deolloz Santos. She later lived in Rosebud and settled in Temple, Texas, where she eventually met and married her husband. They moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she began her entreprenurial spirit in 1961 with the purchase of a dry cleaning business. Julia expanded the services to include alterations, professional tailoring, and leather dye. She later contracted with schools and organizations for sweater, jackets and costumes for theatrical performances and special occasions. She also used the cleaners for local and national elections and served as an election judge for 14 years. With plans to retire back in Texas, they began to purchase real estate in 1974, and moved to Waco in 1976. Her investment in the community was dedicated to her church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and its activities. She became a member of the Catholic Women of Sacred Heart, Guadalupanas and prayer group, and gave her time to the Ladies of Charity and Rosary making at St. Mary's. Mom was the center of our lives and driving force to our success. She will be truly missed, yet live in the hearts and minds of so many people who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gabriel Lopez; sisters, Olivia Reyna, Mary Ruiz and Clemintina Quintero; and brothers, Raymond Santos and Freddie Santos. She is survived by her loving sons, Andrew Lopez of Waco and Mark Lopez and wife, Regina, of Lorena, Texas; grandchildren, Devin and Corbin Lopez; sister, Carol Reina, of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Jessie Santos, Robert Martinez, Ed Koper, Ricardo Rodriguez, Louis Arechiga and Adam Hernandez.
