Karen Ann Chelmo, 59, of Waco, was called into the arms of Jesus on the festival of All Saints Day, Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Brian J. Hesse officiating.
Karen Ann Chelmo was given the gift of life by her creator on October 4, 1963 in Houston. As the adopted child of Rev. Walter and Lois Chelmo she was baptized and later confirmed in her Christian faith. She was a 1981 graduate of Richfield High School. She went on to study nursing at McLennan Community College. At the time of her death, Karen worked in her chosen career as a registered nurse with Ascension Providence Hospital for many years.
Karen was known to be a hardworking and loyal friend and family member always ready to put others before herself. She was known for great phone conversations and long text messages. Witty and caring, Karen was also a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since November 11, 2000. At St. Paul, she faithfully served in many ways including as a member of the altar guild.
She was preceded in death by mother, Lois Chelmo; and two siblings, Kevin Chelmo and Kelli Chelmo.
Karen is survived by her father, Rev. Walter Chelmo; a nephew, Brayden Chelmo; and many other friends and family.
