HUGHES, KATHERINE E. Katherine E. Hughes, age 93, of Waco died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at a local nursing home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, April 27 at Rosemound Cemetery with Rev. Robert Morgan officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00PM Friday, April 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 1124 Washington Ave. Miss Hughes was born November 29, 1908 in Hillsboro, Texas. A graduate of Waco High School, she received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a Master’s from University of Texas at Austin. She had taught for more than 50 years at schools in Bruceville-Eddy, Crawford, Bell’s Hills, LaVega and Waco High School, where she retired. Miss Hughes was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waco, United Methodist Women, Waco-McLennan County Retired Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Baylor Alumni Association, Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas and of Zeta Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was preceded in death by parents, three brothers, and one sister. Survivors include sisters, Lois Hughes and Sue Margaret Hughes both of Waco; brother-in-law, Edmond W. McGhee of Dallas; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Memorials may be made to charity of choice. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
