RENFRO, KATHERINE Katherine Evetts Renfro, 89 of Robinson, died Monday night, February 21, 2005 at a local hospital. Services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, February 25 at 11am at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Hughes and the Rev. Bryan Thornburg officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7pm Thursday, February 24 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mrs. Renfro was born on July 23, 1915 at Oglesby, Texas, the sixth of eight children born to George and Marvin Virginia Huggins Evetts. She grew up in McGregor and graduated from McGregor High School. She was a charter member of College Avenue Baptist Church of McGregor. In 1940, she married James Edwin Renfro, and they moved to Waco, soon joining Emmanuel Baptist Church. Over the years, she was employed at J.C. Penney, Marstaller Grocery, and Baylor Book Store, and yet, building her home and serving in her church were her true callings. Her love for God’s word led her to teach children or adults in weekly Sunday school classes for seventy years, beginning as a teenager in McGregor. She had a heart for missions and was an active leader in Women’s Missionary Union, and she served as church historian. She was a violinist, a talented seamstress; she loved reading and gardening. Mrs. Renfro was preceded in death by her only son Jim in 1978 and by her husband in 1994 and by all of her siblings. She is survived by daughters, Charlotte Wiscarson of Waco and Nancy Miller of Spring; grandsons, Greg Miller and wife Christine of Nacogdoches, Doug Miller and wife Jennifer of Bedford, Paul Renfro of Winter Park, Colorado, and Jason Wiscarson, a student at University of North Texas in Denton; granddaughter Anne McMillen , a student at Texas A&M University in College Station; great-grandchildren Jacob Miller and Alyse Miller; daughter-in-law Judy McMillen and husband Cameron of Dallas; sister-in-law Juanita Cooper of El Monte, California and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Billy Mills, Bill Warren, Rusty Copeland, Richard Fullerton, Howard Porter, and George Wilkins.
