Kathryn Woods Mccusker

Kathryn Woods McCusker passed from this life on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the age of 90. Ms. McCusker was a life-long resident of the Alexandria, Louisiana area, prior to moving to Waco, Texas in 2015. Interment will take place on a date to be determined in a private memorial service at Hemphill Baptist Cemetery in Boyce, Louisiana. Kathryn was born June 10, 1927, in Alexandria to Charlie Woods and Nellie Lovell Woods. She attended grammar and high school in Lecompte, Louisiana, and then studied nursing at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kitty, as she was known to her friends and family, worked for several local doctors in Alexandria for the majority of her professional life, and completed her career at Huey P. Long Hospital in Pineville, Louisiana. She was an avid Bridge player for over 60 years, and competed in many local and statewide tournaments. She loved being at the bridge table with her friends. Kitty was also known for her special homemade teacakes and pralines, and beautiful hand-work. She was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved sister, Charlsie Woods Franklin. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Stratton of Waco; her son, Patrick C. McCusker and wife, Sharon, of Alexandria; granddaughter, Kelli McCusker Cooper and husband, Pierre, of Alexandria; great grandson, Devin L. Bouie, Airman 1st Class, of Spokane, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
