H. Kay Johns January 21, 1941 - April 6, 2014 Kay Johns of Hewitt, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Deacon Greg George officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Kay was born January 21, 1941, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Charles and Dorothy Fair. She enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 52 years to her husband, Bill, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She worked as a teacher/substitute for Waco I.S.D. for many years and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Waco. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Bill Johns, of Hewitt; one son, Chad Johns and fianc, Mary Chastain, of Waco; one daughter, Tara Johns of Hewitt; five grandchildren, Ben, Alex and Kale Johns, Ryan Lloyd, and Nick Chastain; one brother, Bob Fair of Manhattan, Kansas; two sisters, Marilyn Wagner of Manhattan, and Patty Howard of Halstead, Kansas; special family members, Michelle and Dave Lloyd; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special appreciation is expressed to Providence Hospice and Dr. Edward Cooney for their special care during her time of need. Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue.
