Kevin David Copeland

Kevin David Copeland, 62, of Waco, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. July 5, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco with John DeGiorgio officiating.

Kevin was born and raised in Waco where he resided most of his life. He attended Richfield High School and later worked for Howmet Aerospace for 30 years as a Small Cell Group leader/Head Set Up operator. His passion for the City of Austin and Texas Longhorn football was a lifetime love. He was a master at the grill and could expertly prepare anything you put in front of him. Kevin had a deep love of all kinds of music, taking road trips to Austin, and an affinity for action films. Kevin loved his family. This fact was clearly illustrated during the last 10 years of his mother's life. He cared for her diligently and selflessly making sure her final days were filled with love and comfort. Kevin was a beloved father and shared a very close relationship with his daughter Kristin Mayes. He was a big part of her family's daily lives, and his presence will be missed every day. He spent much of his free time spoiling his grandchildren and his two adored rescue cats Bevo and Sasha.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Jayne Baker Solomon; his father, David Goddard Copeland; his beloved grandmother, Lillian Baker; and stepfather, Milton Douglas Solomon.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Mayes; her husband, Shaun Mayes; his grandsons, Tyler, Jacob and Hendrix Mayes; his son, David Copeland; stepdaughter, Jessica Chapman; sister, Kasey Frederick; brother, Michael Copeland; friend Lisa Mayes; and his feline family members, Bevo and Sasha.
