Lacy Rose Conger April 28, 1913 November 12, 2009 Lacy Rose Mrs. Roger N. Conger of Waco went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2009. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, at Oakwood Cemetery with Jimmie Johnson officiating. Lacy Rose was born April 28, 1913, in Waco, the only child of William Smith Hammond and Genevieve Lacy Hammond. She was educated in the Waco schools and Baylor University, where she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta English and Beta Pi Theta French sororities. She and Roger N. Conger were married October 16, 1933, and lived in Dallas until they moved to Waco in 1942. She was exceptionally talented in dance, was a pupil of the famed Hoffmanette sisters, and participated in many of the stage and social events of the historic Texas Cotton Palace. She was a charter member of the Friday Forum book review club, which was founded in 1944. She was a life member of the Historic Waco Foundation, and a charter member of the Heritage Society of Waco. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waco, was active in Women of the Church and a Bible moderator. Lacy Rose is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Roger N. Conger, in 1996; a son, Roger Lacy Conger, in 1960; and two daughters, Rosalyn Lacy Conger in 2003 and Claire Garner in 2007. Left to cherish her memory are her dear friends, Agnes Decker and Barbara Martin and many care givers.
