Laird B. “Bob” Stricklin, 92, of Waco died Monday, September 30, 2002 at his residence. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2002 at Wilkirson-Hatch Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd, Dr. Raymond Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Stricklin was born in Long Branch, New Jersey and moved to Waco from York, Pennsylvania while working for Packless Industries. Bob spent his entire working career with Packless Industries serving as the plant manager for the company and retiring in 1988. During his retirement Mr. Stricklin spent his days playing golf with his close friends and he enjoyed gardening and taking long walks. Mr. Stricklin loved to travel with his children and grandchildren in New York and Mississippi. Mr. Stricklin was a faithful active member of Seventh and James Baptist Church. He was a member of the Adult V Men’s Sunday School class. He was married to Loretta Stricklin who preceded him in death in 1981. Mr. Stricklin married Pearl Bryan in 1988. Pearl Bryan Stricklin, a life long Waco resident, preceded Mr. Stricklin in death on February 29, 2000. Survivors include one son, Bobby Sticklin and wife Sally of Dix Hills, New York,grandson Jeffery Stricklin and one granddaughter, Nancy Stricklin. Additional survivors are Ken and Dotti Bryan Smith of Tallulah, La., Ken Smith, Jr. and Hardy Smith. Pallbearers will be Stanton Bussell, Craven Green, David Green, Jens Rosmus, John Green, Jerry Lewis, Bob Zifferer. Honorary pallbearers are the Members of the Adult V Men’s Sunday School Class of Seventh and James Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Seventh and James Baptist Church Building Fund.
