ROCKE, LAURA Laura Mildred Rocke, R.N., B.S. N., Retired, age 97, of Waco died Thursday, September 27, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, September 29, 2001 at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Don Cowan and Rev. Warren Mingledorff officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Rocke was born in Farmer City, IL September 20, 1904. She attended school in the Chicago area and was a graduate of Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke Medical Center with a B.S. degree from Long Beach State. She married Capt. Herschel M. Rocke, U.S. Army, Ret. January 24, 1934, he preceded her in death in March of 1975, her son, Milton also preceded her in death. She was recruited by American Red Cross to assist with the polio epidemic of the 1950’s in California. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for 83 years; Mrs. Rocke was a devoted Christian. The Lord was the most important factor of her life. Her devotion to the Lord was shown in her daily life through personal and medical involvement. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
