Lawrence Jake Ducas September 1, 1921 - August 2, 2010 Lawrence Jake Ducas of Waco passed away Monday, August 2, 2010. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Pat Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mr. Ducas was born September 1, 1921, in Waco, Texas, to Jake and Lena Ducas. He attended Waco High School and proudly served his country during WWII in the 1848 Medical Detachment of the U.S. Army in Texas. He married Agnes Byrd Marshall on November 3, 1943, and shortly thereafter moved to Detroit, Michigan, and was employed by the Ford Motor Company. In 1944 he moved back to Waco and was employed by the VA Regional Office Legal Division. In 1954 he was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier, retiring in 1972. He was active in numerous veterans organizations and was a life member of both the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #3 and the American Legion Post #121. He was a member of the R.V.O.S. Waco Ceska Lodge #109 and the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #66. He was also an active member in the Waco Cabaret, Sul Ross, and Young at Heart Dance Clubs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, after 42 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Lynn Craft and husband, John, of Woodway; his son, James Thomas Marshall of Clifton; his special friend and dance partner, Fleeta Green; grandchildren, Tiffany Craft Jenkins of Little Elm, TX; John Lawrence Marshall of Montgomery, TX; Clayton Lee Marshall of Montgomery; and Dana Sue Marshall Alsobrook of Clifton; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are John Lawrence Marshall, Clayton Lee Marshall, John Clinton Craft, Jr., Brian Thomas Eoff, Josh Caleb Eoff and Bill Ellis. Memorials may be made to Patton Baptist Church, P.O.
