Lawrence Schlemmer

LAWRENCE SCHLEMMER Lawrence W. Schlemmer, of Waco, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, TX. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 4 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Boesche officiating. Burial will follow at Mart Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, January 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Schlemmer was born January 23, 1924 to Martin and Alma Schlemmer in Riesel, TX. He lived most of his life in the Mart area and moved to Waco in 1953. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. On November 18, 1944, he married Ruby Ellamae Haferkamp. She preceded him in death on November 17, 1989. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leslie Schlemmer and sister, Thelma Dietiker. Survivors include daughter, Linda Bood and husband Doyle of Waco; son, James Schlemmer and wife Beverly of Waco; grandchildren, Amy Witzel, Melanie Witzel, Kim Barker and Kristie Schlemmer; and sister, Alice Kuehl of Waco. Weldon Hand, Darwin Dietiker, Leslie Schlemmer, Brian Hand, Bobby Pankonien and Larry Lovecky will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
