Lazara G. Veracruz October 11, 1914 - May 24, 2015 Lazara G. Veracruz of Waco passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015. Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 28, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Deacon Jessie Garza as officiant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. and with Rosary Vigil at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Mrs. Veracruz was born October 11, 1914, in Mexico, to Julian and Fedencia Gonzalez Mendoza. She was employed at The Latin American Center for 25 years, working with the children. She was a loving, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and a dear friend to all. Her hobbies included cooking, working in her garden and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Waco. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Richard Veracruz; daughter, Carolyn Dubey; eight grandchildren; one sister and one brother. She is survived by daughters, Janie Portillo and Rosie Reyna; and sons, Frank Veracruz, Henry Veracruz and Ray Veracruz; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Frank Veracruz, Jr., Mike Veracruz, Edgar Castaneda, Kevin Barrera, Josh Barrera, Matthew Barrera, Larry Dubey and Isiah Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Gomez and Jeremy Botello. Special thanks to Mary Leon and Texas Home Health Care and Stacie Gomez for taking care of her at Regent Care.
