Leesa Marie Huerta, age 32, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 15, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2621 Bagby Avenue, in Waco, with Father Benji officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation and Rosary will be from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Leesa was born May 21, 1991, in Waco, Texas, where she spent her formative years. She graduated from Connally High School in 2009, and later attended McLennan Community College. In 2014, she began to work at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, where she met the love of her life, Joshua. They decided to become one and wed October 29, 2016.
Leesa was a beloved wife, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. More than anything, Leesa was a devoted mother to Theresita. She loved spending time with her family, sharing stories, playing games, and watching her favorite TV shows.
Leesa was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Requena de Patena; maternal grandfather, Domingo Requena; paternal grandparents, Benito and Eva Zavala; and her uncles, Bennie Zavala and Tony Zavala.
Leesa is survived by her loving husband, Joshua; and their daughter, Theresa; father, Joe Zavala; sister, Olivya Zavala; grandmother, Dolores Requena (who raised her as her own daughter); step-father, Ricardo Patena; maternal uncle and aunt, Gabriel and Diane Requena; niece and nephews, George and Sharon Rivera, and Steve Mata, Robert and Diana Huerta; in-laws, Elaine and John McRae, sister and brother-in-law, and two nieces. She is also survived by paternal aunts and uncles, Gracie and Reymundo Lopez, Frances and Joe Rosas, Yolanda Olivarez, Olga and Gary Puckett, and Janie and Patrick Jones. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Huerta, Albert Rodriguez, Christopher Garcia, Lupe Santoy, Alex Requena, and John McRae.
