Leland Everett McGraw, 84, passed away Thursday, June 16, in Waco. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, with Rev. Brian Coats officiating. A reception will follow in the Teal Center at Central Christian Church, 4901 Lake Shore Drive, Waco 76710. McGraw was born in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee, on January 30, 1932. He finished high school in Nashville, TN, and enlisted in the Army. After serving in the Army and Army Reserves, he moved to Houston to work in the banking business. While in Houston, he met Virginia Ann. After marrying in Houston, the couple moved to Waco in 1969 to care for Virginia’s parents. Leland worked for the Highway Department, H&R Block and Hertz. Gentle and caring, Leland was a member of Central Christian Church. He served as an Elder and a greeter, and he loved attending the Coffee and Conversation Sunday School Class. Leland is survived by his daughter, Emilie. He is predeceased in death by Virginia; his parents, Lloyd Castle McGraw and Pauline Cantrell McGraw; and his sister, Betty Jean McGraw Tucker Christianson.
