Lenore E. Alexander May 9, 1916 January 18, 2011 Lenore E. Alexander passed away peacefully in her home in Waco Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 20, at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco. Burial will follow at Prairie Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home 12:00 1:30 p.m., prior to the service. Mrs. Alexander was born May 9, 1916, near Barnes, Kansas, to Mary and James Funk. The family soon moved to the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, where Lenore grew up and graduated from Weslaco High School. She graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton. She married William P. Alexander Jr. on July 3, 1939. She was active in the Methodist church, serving as an officer in the Wesleyan Service Guild. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for each of her three sons. Her sons remember her best as a constant, encouraging, loving parent. Lenore is survived by three sons, William P. Alexander III of Austin, James L. Alexander of Caldwell, and Steven D. Alexander of Barksdale Texas; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will include Alfonso Luna, Maria DeLeon, Socorro Wolcott, and Randall Alexander. Memorials may be made to Caritas of Waco.
