Leroy Nelson Tucker October 4, 1920 June 16, 2012 Leroy Tucker of Waco passed away Saturday, June 16, in Waco. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mr. Tucker was born in Waco, where he graduated from Waco High School, and later graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After his service, he was an employee in the United States Civil Service until his retirement after 30 years, having been employed by the Veterans Administration, and James Connally air Force Base, and, at the time of his retirement, Fort Hood Army Base. On September 1, 1956, he married the love of his life, the former Bernice Morton of Heidenheimer, Texas, and enjoyed 41 years together before her death on February 22, 1998. Mr. Tucker was a lifelong member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, and attended the Frank Wilson Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Waco Masonic Lodge No. 92. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Morton Tucker; his parents, Henry Bruce and Bertie Lee Tucker; four sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Tucker Wingrove; granddaughter, Anna Johnson and husband, Brian; nephews, Donald Ray Martin and Tommy Tucker; nieces, Millicent Odell, Betty Jane Thompson, and Norma Randle, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Martin, Horner Shelton and Steve Cowan. Because of Leroy's lifelong love for animals, memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends, in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ross Shipp, the staff of Providence Hospital, Providence Hospice, Meadowlands Terrace, and Ridgecrest Retirement Center for their excellent care to Mr. Tucker.
