Les Smith January 1, 1941 - August 23, 2013 Claude Leslie Smith, 72 of Waco, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at a local hospital. Services will be at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey on Friday, August 30, at 11:00 a.m., Msgr. Mark Deering will officiate. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday August 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Les was born Jan 1, 1941, to Claude and Elizabeth Smith of Waco. He attended local schools and graduated from Reicher High School in 1959. He graduated from Baylor University with a BA in Business and Finance, Economics and Theatre. Les owned and operated LTD Pallet Co. for over 30 years. He was active in Waco Civic Theatre as actor, director and board president. He also was active in animal rescue. He served in the Navy with the rank of Lt. and was a courier with national security clearance. He loved his family and will be missed by all. He was active in animal rescue. He is survived by his wife, Denise Brown; a daughter, Margaret Smith of McGregor; stepdaughters, Dawn Hudgins and husband, Rod of Euless, Texas; Stephanie Brown of China Spring, Shannon Brown of Farmer's Branch, Texas and stepson, John Warren of Plano, Texas. He also is survived by a sister, Dale Smith Black and husband, Jack Dunn of Waco; a brother, Dr. Pat Smith and wife, Judy, of Flower Mound, Texas; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Central Texas Humane Society, marcpets.org, and Waco Children's Theatre.
