Lester R. “Bill” Rommel Lester R. “Bill” Rommel passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at a local nursing home. Services will be at 11:30 am Saturday, February 11 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Craig Klempnauer, Chaplain of Southern Care Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7 – 8:00 pm Friday, February 10 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Lester was born December 29, 1912 in Wagnor, OK to L. E. Rommel and Clara Montgomery Rommel. He grew up in Fayetteville, AR and Cleveland, OK. He began his automotive career at an early age as a mechanic and later worked as a district manager for General Motors. In 1950, he began a career as service manager for Gordon Rountree Motors, a position he held for 40 years. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army Air Force supervising aircraft maintenance. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, first wife, Selma Ione Davis and second wife, Bernice Reynolds Bagwell. Survivors include daughters, Barbara Rountree and husband, Algie of Waco and Pamela Young and husband, Steve of Minneapolis, MN and brother, Charles Rommel and wife, Betty of Cleveland, OK. Pallbearers will be Algie Rountree, Steve Young, George Love, John Harvey, Jess Webb and Bob St. George.
