Lewis Vinzant August 19, 1926 - November 17, 2008 Lewis Vinzant of Waco passed away Monday, November 17, 2008. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with nephews, Dr. Bruce Cox and David Vinzant, officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Lewis was born August 19, 1926 in Limestone County, Texas to Burl and Lottie Vinzant. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and then graduated from Sam Houston University Lewis married Lou North on September 19, 1953 and were married for 48 years, until her death in 2002. He worked for 40 years at General Tire and Rubber Co in the Quality Control Department. Lewis has been a longtime member and deacon of Grace Temple Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather-"Poppop". He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lou Vinzant; brothers, Burl and John Vinzant; and one sister, Fleta Goppfarth. He is survived by his two daughters, Kay Vinzant of Waco and Jan Martin and husband, Donald of Katy; grandchildren, Travis Martin and Mallory Martin; sisters, Lorraine Sadler and Janie Spikes; and dear friend, Mary Allen. Memorials may be made to American Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to each of his loving caregivers at Autumn Grove Cottage and Resolutions Hospice.
