Lilah Puckett Prouty October 8, 1921 March 25, 2011 Lilah Crow Puckett Prouty, of Waco, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Su Milam officiating. Lilah was born on October 8, 1921 in Waco to George and Essie Crow. She graduated from Waco High School and attended Baylor University. In July of 1942, she boarded a train in Waco for a three day ride to San Diego, CA where she and Harry Puckett were married. Lilah worked in San Diego for the rest of WWII while Harry served in the Navy in the South Pacific. After the war, they returned to Waco where their children were born. Lilah was a lifelong Christian. Along with her sister and brother, they were raised by their parents as members of First Baptist Church. Lilah was a woman of high energy, high ideals and always had a positive attitude. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, was a great cook, and loved being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married W. C. Prouty in June, 2000, after they were reacquainted at a Waco High School reunion. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her sister, Virgie Matejowsky Tuke and her brother, George Crow. She is survived by her son, Steve Puckett and wife, Jackie of Waco; her daughter, Janice Puckett of Waco; two grandchildren, Robert Puckett and wife, Jennifer and Stacy Puckett Guerra and husband, George; three great-grandchildren, Lauren and Cooper Puckett and Jacob Guerra. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the friends and staff at Stilwell Retirement Residence, Providence Hospice and Lakeshore Village Healthcare Center.
