Linda Beth Tusa

September 7, 1945 — December 8, 2022

Linda Beth McMahan Tusa, 77, of Waco, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 8, 2022 surrounded by her husband and daughter, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, at Rosemound Cemetery with the Rev. David Story officiating.

Linda was born September 7, 1945 in Waco to Bula (Phillips) and Robert McMahan. She graduated from Waco High School in 1964. She and her family lived next door to Tusa’s Grocery, where she met her husband, Van. She and Van were married on April 15, 1966. She worked as a secretary for Retail Credit until the birth of her daughter. She stayed home to raise her daughter and help Van run the store. Their business evolved from a neighborhood grocery store to a wholesale chicken and egg business. She meticulously kept the books and helped Van run the business until her battle with Parkinson's Disease progressed and forced her to retire in 2016.

Linda enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid crossword puzzle solver. Most of all, Linda enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family. Everyone always wanted to go to Aunt Linda’s for the holidays because they knew that there would be lots of fantastic food and cut-throat games of hearts until the wee hours.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James David McMahan and Donald Joe McMahan.

Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Van; her daughter, Laura Beth and husband, Leonard Elliott of Waco; sisters, Marie French of Missouri City and Nancy Anderson of Richmond; brother, Robert McMahan and wife, Dottie of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends who were like family, Megan Hromadka and Paula Patterson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the staff at The Blake and Interim Hospice for their loving care of our entire family.
